Definition:

An electroplating tank is a specially designed container or vessel that holds the electrolyte solution and electrodes required for the electroplating process. The tank facilitates the controlled deposition of metal ions onto the surface of a conductive object. Key Components:

1. Tank Material:

   • Made from chemically resistant materials like polypropylene, PVC, HDPE, or stainless steel (depending on the type of electrolyte used).

   • Designed to resist corrosion, high temperatures, and chemical attack.

2. Electrolyte Solution:

   • A water-based solution containing metal salts and other additives.

   • The type of metal to be plated (e.g., nickel, chrome, copper) determines the specific electrolyte used.

3. Anodes:

   • Made of the plating metal or an inert material (e.g., platinum-coated titanium).

   • Connected to the positive terminal of a power supply.

4. Cathode (Workpiece):

   • The item to be plated, connected to the negative terminal.

   • Suspended in the solution to receive the metal ions.

5. Power Supply:

   • Provides direct current (DC), causing metal ions to migrate from the anode to the cathode.

   • Voltage and current are carefully controlled to ensure proper plating.

6. Agitation System (optional):

   • Helps maintain uniform ion distribution in the solution.
